The greatest lure of using gypsum in building is its fire resisting quality. A gypsum plaster the onslaught of fire by virtue of its 20.9% of water by weight it holds. Thus here is a very efficient barrier between the passage of heat and the combustible material. Gypsum plaster is therefore widely used as an insulating material for protecting columns and beams of wood or metal from high temperatures.

Its density is low to provide better coverage maintaining its all in built properties. The coverage of single coat is approx 62mm/(metrication) in normal 12mm thickness.

It does not required any water curing after the application, thus saves time, water consumption and manpower.

The thickness of plaster is recommended to be 12mm on uneven background but should be applied in two subsequent application.

Plaster is non-combustible having very low thermal conductivity (k-value). Thus lends good thermal insulation to wall/surface. In confirmation to I.S 2547 part -1, of 1976.

It is available in 2kg, 20kg and 25kg bags.

• The background should be suitably wait for 10 minutes prior to plastering , to remove trapped air and to facilitate that the plaster has good contact and bonding with the background.
• The best surface of the wall is plastered in line and level. As the plaster stiffens progressively, fattening and finishing should be carried out.
• The wall is marked with level strips, vertically at 1200mm centers, then check the straight edge or line by using aluminum square tube. The high spots on walls are identified and minimum level in 6mm thickness is marked to control the thickness of plaster.
• Plaster wet mix is prepared by mixing powder with pure water, to have workable consistency, the wet mix is then applied on rigid surface by using trowel in required thickness.
• When the plaster is sufficiently formed. The surface should be finished with sponge coat with light application of water. The finishing is finally done with coating by using trowel to have final smooth surface.
